This is an annual event held in conjunction with the Burns Clubs and Camps Special Interest Group. It gives the children from all over the UK a chance to build supportive relationships with each other and gain confidence and self–esteem. Many friendships made here are kept and are a great source of support when children encounter difficulties at school.
“It’s been the best holiday of my life; I would like to come again but for longer”
The Autumn 2010 Jamboree, held at Grafham Water Centre in Cambridgeshire was again hailed a great success. With several new clubs participating this year over 40 children, burns care specialists and volunteers from Scotland, Wales and England enjoyed 4 fun packed days at the end of October. In addition to all the activities provided by Centre the children also had a trip to a local swimming centre, and a disco.
Activities at Jamboree have included: Circus Skills, Kayaking, Gorge Scrambling, Caving, Archery, Night Hiking and Climbing.
Each year we fund a Jamboree that costs over £11,000, please click here for ways you can help.
“CBT fulfils a unique but critical role in supporting children across the UK affected by traumatic and life changing burn injuries and their families. Their commitment to this cause and their ability to deliver vitally needed projects is impressive”
Normally our children only get to meet other Scottish children but I know the experiences and friendships gained at the Jamboree will live with the Scottish children for a long time. To establish nationwide friendships is a great opportunity for the children and I'm sure through any future trying times for young burns survivors the happy and fun times at the Jamboree will help them get through any difficulties they face, so on behalf of the children and volunteers of the Scottish Burned Children's Club we are eternally grateful to everyone who helps our young burn survivors.
We are delighted to announce that BBC Children in Need have awarded us a grant to cover the cost of the 2011 Jamboree - THANK YOU PUDSEY!
