Highly Commended Winner - The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Bravery Award
"I chose to nominate Kieran as I first met him at the age of six when he had already undergone many operations having been severely burned by falling into a hot water bath at age 18 months. (Hot water is the major cause of severe burns to children under five) Since that time, Kieran has undergone over 50 operations (he has just turned 17) which means that the better part of his youth has been spent in hospital.
“During this time he has continued his school work, endured pain, suffering, and being obviously "different" to his school mates.
“However, he has remained during all this time, a gentle, resilient and courageous young man. As he now reaches adulthood he needs every ounce of courage and fortitude he can muster as he is still undergoing skin grafting and other surgery.
His Grandparents who have brought him up during this time also deserve mention for their care, and particularly his grandmother who had to learn how to massage, change dressings, and generally care for his burns, infections and probably moments of great despair.
“Kieran's battle will continue throughout the rest of his life. I therefore, believed that being nominated for an Award of Courage is well deserved.”

Highly Commended – The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Bravery Award
“I nominated Logan for the Stagecoach Awards because he is a very special boy. He sustained extensive burns to his body aged only 4 years of age and has shown exceptional bravery throughout his treatment to date. Because of the area his burns cover he has already undergone two reconstructive surgeries.
“He wears his pressure garments without protest and allows his mum to do his creaming and physio. Only a few short months after his accident Logan started school with his own group and has settled in well, and is a very popular pupil.
“Logan also has exceptional parents and a sister who has supported him along his journey. They all know he has many years of treatment in front of him. They face each challenge with a positive attitude and determination.
“The visit to London to attend the Stagecoach Theatre Arts Awards was an extra bonus for Logan and his family. They had never been to London before and neither he nor his sister had been on a train. CBT added to the day by looking after them and taking them on the London Eye.
“The boost a day like this gives to families shouldn't be under-estimated.
Logan is proud of himself and beams when you ask him about his Award; it goes without saying that his family are proud of him too.
“A big thanks to Stagecoach for these awards; I have no doubt it has given Logan and his family a huge boost.
“A personal thank you from me too; it was amazing to see and meet all those children, each and every one special and very deserving of an award.”
