One of our main aims is to raise the awareness of the incidence and causes of burn and scald injury in the UK. By working with other charities, community groups and Government we are highlighting the dangers, helping to reduce the number of burns and scalds happening to children.
Our Prevention work is developed from the information provided by the International Burn Injury Database which contains accurate information about the nature of burns and scalds affecting children in the UK. We are therefore able to target our prevention and awareness programmes to the most relevant areas in the following ways:
We have already reached over 300,000 families through contacts with healthcare professionals, early years, community groups, schools, nurseries and playschools.
We have put together a downloadable resource for the British Burn Association (BBA) covering our key prevention messages, as well as the first aid information that parents, carers and childcare professionals should know in the event of an accident.
